Thinking Gender 2019
Branding for the Thinking Gender 2019 Conference for confronting the carceral state. Branding assets include Instagram posts, logo mark, broadside poster, name tag, Spotify playlist, and Snapchat filter.
Instagram Posts
Instagram posts highlight the logo, tagline, and relevant quotes from keynote speakers to maintain continuous branding while creating interest in the event.
Snapchat Filter
This Snapchat filter works in conjunction with the broadside poster to flip reversed words on the poster so that they can be properly read in the selfie image. The filter highlights the tagline from the conference - “Confronting the Carceral State” and brings the viewer into the context of gender and being incarcerated.
Thinking Gender 2019 Spotify Playlist
This Spotify playlist highlights queer, trans, and gender fluid artists and music to add excitement and entertainment to the atmosphere of the Thinking Gender Conference. This playlist is live, and can be found by searching “Thinking Gender 2019” on your Spotify app.
Thinking Gender Logo
This logo was created using the “G” from thinking and gender to bind the two words together to highlight the fluidity of gender in 2019. The G is reversed and paired with a dot at the bottom to resemble a question mark - again pointing to the considerations of gender, self reflection, and the deeply personal relationship people have with their identity.
Thinking Gender Broadside Poster
This poster describing the submission details for the conference uses reversal in addition to Snapchat to bring the viewer into the context of the conference and gender. Parts of the poster including the title, tagline, and date are reversed, encouraging the viewer to use a snapchat selfie with the provided filter to reverse the text so that it can be read properly in their image. This has the potential to create conversation and engagement with the poster that goes well beyond the event itself.
